Paul and Nancy's Handcrafted Creations
Paul and Nancy have been creating hand crafted wooden bowls, platters, and candle holders for many years. We are located in the Northern California area. Nancy selects the type of wood, grain configuration and color. Her background in china painting and stained glass creations help her to create designs that best show the natural beauty of the wood. Paul completes the final work. All of our work is 100% handcrafted.
Sustainable Harvesting Practices
Some of the woods we use come from other countries. The wood producers we buy from abide by the practices of the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC), an international organization that supports and promotes forest management standards that are environmentally appropriate, socially beneficial and economically viable.
Use of our bowls and platters
Our bowls and platters are finished with lacquer or varnish, which are not FDA approved food safe finishes, and may discolor from exposure to moisture.
If you choose to serve wet food in our bowls, we suggest cleaning them with a mild detergent solution and a soft cloth or sponge. After rinsing, completely dry with a soft cloth. Do not let liquids stay in the bowl after use. Do not put them in a dishwasher or microwave. We recommend the pieces not be placed where direct sunlight can shine on them as this can cause some woods to fade and other woods to turn dark.
Checking and cracking
All of our pieces are dried and seasoned in a controlled environment before turning and finishing. Occasionally, checking or minor cracking can occur due to humidity and temperature changes. Some may see this as a natural
occurrence when working with wood. Others may see it as something less than perfect. So, with that in mind, any of
our pieces with checks or small cracks are priced accordingly.
